Active IQ - Level 2 Award in Mental Health Awareness 

Introduction

The purpose of this qualification is to provide learners with an understanding and awareness of mental health, common mental health disorders and issues, help reduce stigma and discrimination and encourage people to talk about mental health. Furthermore, the qualification should provide learners with the ability to apply their knowledge of mental health through recognising and responding to the signs of mental ill health in themselves and others and be able to offer mental health first aid to people experiencing mental ill health.

Entry Requirements

There are no specific entry requirements.

Learners must complete the two mandatory units (below)

  • E-assessment.

Career Progression

This qualification provides progression onto:

  • Active IQ Level 2 Award in Alcohol Awareness.

  • Active IQ Level 2 Award in Smoking Awareness and Cessation.

  • Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Promoting Community Health and Well-being.

This qualification may also provide progression on to qualifications related to careers in mental health, health and social care, counselling, or psychology.

Active IQ - Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral

Introduction

This qualification is designed to provide learners with the knowledge to ensure safe and effective exercise programming for patients with a number of medical conditions and common reasons for referral onto a community-based exercise referral scheme.

Entry Requirements

Learners must hold one of the following:

  • Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing.

  • Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing.

  • Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Group Training.

  • Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training.

  • Level 3 Diploma in Instructing Pilates Matwork.

  • Active IQ Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training.

  • Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Yoga.

Qualification Structure

Learners must achieve all six mandatory units (38 credits).

 

Assessment

  • Coursework/Project.

  • Multiple Choice Examination.

  • Portfolio of Evidence.

  • Practical Demonstration/Assignment.

Active IQ - Level 3 Online Diploma in Supporting Clients with Long-term Conditions

Introduction

This qualification is designed to give learners the knowledge and skills necessary to be able to support clients living with a range of one or more long-term condition(s), by encouraging them to lead healthier, more active lives to better manage their symptoms through effective behaviour-change techniques, lifestyle advice and safe and effective exercise prescription.

Entry Requirements

Learners must hold one of the following:

  • A suitable Level 2 qualification in fitness/gym instructing (not including instructing children).

  • A suitable Level 3 qualification in personal training.

  • Level 3 Diploma in Instructing Pilates Matwork.

  • Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Yoga.

Learners must complete the five mandatory units.

 

Assessment

  • Multiple-Choice Exam.

  • Practical Demonstration/ Assignment.

  • eAssessment.

Active IQ - Level 3 Award in Nutrition for Exercise and Health

Introduction

This qualification will enable learners to develop their knowledge of healthy eating to analyse their client’s nutritional habits and to be able to offer healthy eating advice linked to their clients’ exercise and lifestyle goals. During the qualification learners will cover the following:

  • How to access credible information about nutrition for exercise and health.

  • The nutrients required to maintain health.

  • How nutrients from food are used to fuel and aid recovery from physical activity.

  • How to estimate daily energy and nutrient requirements for clients with different goals.

  • The risks of poor nutritional and lifestyle practices.

  • Skills to analyse clients’ dietary habits and identification of areas for improvement.

Entry Requirements

  • A suitable Level 2 qualification in Fitness Instructing.

  • There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) and maths involved, so learners should have basic skills in communication and maths pitched at pitched at level 2 (as a minimum).

Learners must complete the one mandatory unit.

Coursework/Project, E-assessment, Multiple Choice Examination, Portfolio of Evidence.

Active IQ - Level 4 Certificate In Physical Activity and Weight Management for Obese and Diabetic Clients

Introduction 

The Active IQ Certificate in Physical Activity and Nutrition Strategies for Obesity and Diabetes Management is at level 4 on the Regulated Qualifications Framework.

Entry Requirements

• Learners must hold a Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral or equivalent.

 

Target Learners: 

• Experienced Instructors wishing to further their career in the health and fitness sector as a specialist instructor who can address the needs of clients with obesity and/or diabetes. 

 

Qualification Structure

Learners must achieve all three mandatory units (16 credits).

 

Progression & Links

 

This qualification provides progression to further specialist qualifications at Level 4. This qualification has direct links to the NOS in Instructing Physical Activity and Exercise and – D513 Design, agree and adapt a physical activity programme for adults with obesity and/or diabetes mellitus

Active IQ Level 4- Certificate in Physical Activity and Lifestyle Strategies for Managing Low Back Pain

Introduction 

The Active IQ Level 4 Certificate in Physical Activity and Lifestyle Strategies for Managing Low Back Pain is designed for learners already working within the health, fitness and well-being industry and will equip learners to prepare for employment in a specific occupational area. This qualification is designed to provide learners with the knowledge to ensure safe and effective exercise programming for clients with low back pain within an exercise referral scheme or as a self-referred client.

Entry Requirements

Learners must hold a Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral or equivalent.

Qualification Structure

Learners must complete the three mandatory units (15 credits).

 

Assessment

  • Coursework/Project.

  • Portfolio of Evidence.

  • Practical Demonstration/Assignment.

Career Progression

This qualification provides progression to further specialist qualifications at level 4.
